Book Reviews of White Night (The Dresden Files, Book 9)Book Review: Brilliant! Summary: 5 StarsJim Butcher is one of those writers that improve with age. Each book he writes is better than the last. The White Night is the very best of the Dresden series. Butcher has everything that makes a Great Writer. Characterization, plot, dialog, the list goes on... but most of all he has a brilliant sense of humor and style. He makes you believe that his world is right outside your door, at least if you happen to live in Chicago! Jim Butcher takes the cake when it comes to Sci-Fi and Fantasy. He is my favorite author and I cannot wait to see more from him! If you see a book of his on a shelf, or on Amazon, pick it up before someone else does!
Book Review: Coul not put this book down! Summary: 5 StarsJust finished White Night early in the AM on New Year's Day 2008. Such a great read. Could not out it down. Read it in two evenings. Each Dresden novel is better than the previous one. Now it will be agony waiting for the next one. I am on to the Codex Alera series!
Book Review: Let's hear it for Harry ! Summary: 5 StarsLet us first start by saying that the tv Harry is just okay. For the real deal it's the book. I haven't grown tired of this series. I love the family aspect of the novels. Mister, Mouse, Thomas, and Murphy are characters that you love and look forward to seeing and hearing about. The action here isn't the type you will see on tv and is too expensive for movies but in books it is great. The developement of Lash is a nice touch. That is what is missing from the tv Harry the touches. The blue beatle, the home in the basement, the fat cat, the temple dog and above all the HUMOR! That's what makes this series is the humor. Harry is right he needs a hat and spurs next time. Let's hear it for Harry!
Book Review: Fun Book Summary: 3 StarsThis was the first book I read by this author, and had never heard of Dresden before this. It was an enjoyable read with interesting characters. Some of the dialog was a little corny and some parts were longer than they needed to be, but as a whole the book is fun and worth the read.
One thing I really appreciated was the availability of a large print edition which is somewhat uncommon in the fantasy genre.
Book Review: Fun book very funny with lots of action Summary: 4 StarsThis is an excellent book that will make you laugh out loud at times. My only complaint is Harry needs to get a full time side kick. Usually Murphy or Thomas fills that role but in this book six or seven side characters drift in and out to fill the sidekick role. It was Molly, Murphy, Elaine, Thomas, Carlos, and Lashiel. It was sort of hard to keep strait at times. I like a lot of the old characters and want to keep up with their development but if I hadn't read the other books I would have been lost.
And if Thomas shows up at the last minute to save Harry one more time he is going to have to change his name to Miracle.
