Book Reviews of White Night (The Dresden Files, Book 9)Book Review: Dresden Fan Summary: 5 StarsI became interested in the books through the television show on Sci Fi channel, and was greatly disappointed when it was cancelled. I am a science fiction fan; and since I am a reader, I decided to try the books and found I enjoyed them even more than the series. Jim Butcher keeps Harry Dresden fresh with a very dry and sarcastic humor that I truly enjoy. Harry is a 'white knight' who is compelled by his old fashioned sense of duty to help any female in distress. In this book he is attempting to find a murderer in the magical comunity who targets women of magic. The murders initially appeared to be suicides, but Harry is sure that the murderer is also targeting him. Someone dressed similar to him seems to always be nearby when the woman are found dead or go missing. In each book, there is always a mystery that is completed, but Dresden finds new friends and new enemies in each book. His relationships with the characters continue to evolve throughout the books.
Book Review: A great addition to an outstanding series Summary: 5 StarsThere really isn't much I can add to what has already been said, this series only gets better and better. I can't wait to book 10!
Book Review: Good book Summary: 5 Starsi have been a fan of this series for a while now and this one is just as great as the others and im upset that the next isnt out yet.
Book Review: One of the Best of the Series Summary: 5 StarsI'm such a big fan of this series. Harry is growing in maturity and power. His mentorship of Molly and the bittersweet ending of his symbiosis with Laschiel is really launching him into a character that will be formidable figure in the war that is climaxing in the Dresdenverse. Of course, gotta love the dark comedy and allusions to pop culture in the here and now. Butcher's description of the Chicagoland area are described in vivid detail.
Book Review: Harry Gets Better with Age Summary: 5 StarsJim Butcher has managed to create a series that doesn't get stale. Harry Dresden continues to grow emotionally, intellectually and magically. Butcher finds new angles, new monsters and new situations each time out. This time someone is murdering women with negligible levels of magical talent, and Harry rides the Blue Beetle to the rescue. His hunkalicious brother Thomas might be involved, and his apprentice Molly wants to help. Murphy. Mouse and Bob lend support, and Harry's ex Elaine reappears.
I've heard Harry described as "Indiana Jones meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer," and I think that sums it all up pretty well. Humor, tension and action. I'm in for book 10.
