Book Reviews of Whole Lot of Shakin' Going on: The Life and Times of Jerry Lee Lewis

Book Review: JLL Raisin' H*ll (The first 58 years)
Summary: 5 Stars

[Century/London edition, 1993] There are a number of very entertaining literary works out there on the Ferriday Fireball, but this is the most personal - it's by "The Killer" himself, and "The Doctor" - Charles Dr. Rock White, a fascinating figure himself: Medical Doctor, Writer, Radio Producer/Host. He is the same writer who miraculously managed to get a book out "The Architect" (aka "The Quasar"), Little Richard Penniman, about a decade before.
That says alot, and so does this book, which by the way, would provide a sound basis [no pun...] for another project - the first remake of "Great Balls Of Fire" as a non-embarrassing Movie Biography (if such a thing is possible in this neck of the galaxy). Dennis Quaid had his heart in the late '80s flick, but his head misinterpreted this real "Wild Child" (you like this stylistic trend?) - he was successful with the "wild" but not the "child" - as if the music was the uncontrollable result of a disordered, immature mind.
This book reveals a true philosopher, a complex individual, with an artistic and humanitarian vision. "Think about it!", as Lewis himself might say.
But that's not all: can you believe there's a *real* exhaustive discography/sessionography, taking up a good portion of this book. For record collectors, historians, this is a feature worth three times the cost of the book. Thank you, Charles, for providing a great balance of story, narrative, and facts and figures!
