If you love the music from Wicked then you will love these selections. They aren't tough at all, so if you are looking for a challenge then this isn't for you. However, if you are well versed in piano playing then this is a fun selection of song to simply play and sing-along with! Book Review: "wicked" is good!

stephen schwartz has found a way to incorporate "godspell", "pippin" and "the hunchback of notredame" and top them all! i've played many scores and never have i read liner notes as laid out here explaining his reworking of the pieces for individual vocal performance. a great insight. buy it!Book Review: A Wicked Review

From the first page to the last sentence Gregory Maguire manages to take his readers on an exciting tour of the world of Oz that no one before has ever dared to explore. His use of abstract and sometimes archaic vocabulary instills the story with a sense of prestige and maturity which coincides well with the varying conflicts. But the story isn't all serious; Gregory Maguire does a great job of slipping in humor through the dialog and actions of his imaginatively unique characters, none of which, (besides Dorothy of course) are human by our standards. Those who take the time to read this book will learn about the many different creatures in the Land of Oz, their ideology, as well as the remarkable differences between animals and Animals. With each passing page, Gregory Maguire seems to bring new meaning to the saying; things can always get worse. This is because just when you think you have Gregory Maguire figured out, he turns the tables, as well as the clock, ten or so years into the future. This story brings the readers into the mind of the legendary Wicked Witch of the West and shows us that, despite popular belief, evil is not born, it is acquired.
Book Review: Great folio!

I just can't get enough of the music from Wicked! I bought this folio for my husband to play on guitar. (Neither of us play keyboard.) There are some difficult chord passages, but not impossible. (As Fiyero would say: "...those who don't try, never look foolish!") Our favorite song, "For Good", is just magical, and both parts are written out to sing as the duet done in the musical. (And it works as a solo as well.) I wish the "You're Perfect" sequence was included in "Dancing Through Life", but I understand that the charts can't be the same as the fully orchestrated versions. All in all, a fun folio to own!
