Ugh. Let me begin with this: I love Lora Leigh. I think she's a great writer. I love how well she writes erotica and how incredible the tension is in her stories.
But WHY does she have to make every woman enjoy the spanking thing, when they always happen to have been abused there before? I don't get it. It's not sexy. I don't know why she has to incorporate it into every friggin' book. This story was great, I was really loving it. In face, when I was reading the first sex scene, I was getting really hot, rocking my hips on the bed, totally feeling the passion and sensations just running through my body as I pictured the sensual scene unfolding, and then boom! Slap on the ass. It was like all feeling just left my body. I stopped rocking and didn't feel so hot and bothered anymore.
The story itself was great. I couldn't wait to read more. But that spanking thing...it has to go. It's just not erotic when someone had already been abused there before. It's not sexy to do during sex when a woman had traumatizing experiences with it. She was whipped, for God's sake! Her reaction of being in "burning pleasure," was unrealistic. That's not how a woman feels. They start getting memories of when that traumatic event happened, and get scared and curl up in a ball. Not moan and ask for more.
Besides this issue, my only other problem was Cam. His arrogance was just too much. Usually I don't care. But this guy...some of the things he said, I just wanted to slap him back and see how he liked it.
