Book Reviews of Wicked TiesBook Review: HOTT Dom/Sub Romance Summary: 5 Stars
This is a fantastic d/s novel. If you want hardcore bondage or pain play, this isn't for you; but if you're looking for a strong d/s romance story with some rougher aspects, you'll love this.
Book Review: Hot and Steamy Summary: 5 Stars
This is the first installment of Shayla Black's `Wicked Lovers' series. Jack is a self proclaimed Dom who owns a company that deals in personal security. Morgan hosts a TV show which focus is sexual topics. Jack arranges an interview with Morgan to discuss dominant\submissive relationships. Meanwhile, Morgan is being harassed by what she thought was an over zealous fan, but turns out to be a psycho who wants her dead. Jack saves her life during the interview. He takes her out of the public eye to protect her and what started as talk turns into a real life dominant\submissive relationship. All the while, Jack is hiding the real reason behind him arranging the interview to begin with and has to decide what is more important: his reason or Morgan.
The storyline was well written, the characters well rounded and the context; purely erotic.
Book Review: It's REALLY hot in here!! Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, I'm not going to try to review the plot, cuz the big stars above got that covered.
All I want to say is.... this is a hot, Hot, HOT!! book. The hero and heroine really have a great relationship, including the inability to communicate with each other on occasion. How cool is that? Real life makes the book more interesting.
And, we get a peek at Deke and Luc, the twosome who are looking for a threesome. I'm trying to convince author Shayla Black to let them come over a visit, but so far no luck.
If you like erotic romances, this is a must have addition to your library!
Book Review: Just Okay -- 2.5 stars Summary: 2 Stars
Of the three books so far in this series, "Wicked Ties" was my least favorite. Morgan's internal struggle got a bit old after awhile but mainly, it was due to the fact that I didn't care for Jack or many of his actions.
SPOILERS
First of all, Jack goes after Morgan incessantly until he wears her down. Then he tries to convince her that a D/s relationship is based on trust yet he films them having sex without her consent just to get back at someone else. That's unforgivable in my book. Still, the biggest problem I had with Jack was that he's supposed to know what a woman wants before she does yet he has no clue whatsoever that he all but traumatized his ex-wife (possibly for life). The book states that he'd practiced this lifestyle for at least a decade but I had to wonder, how did he wind up with someone who was so obviously NOT into D/s in the first place? That never made sense to me. Basically, I just found Jack to be very high-handed and arrogant. When I read how he chastises Morgan for touching him without permission, I rolled my eyes and wished she had kneed him in the groin! Guess you can't tell I'm definitely not the submissive type. ;-)
END SPOILERS
Positives: Jack doesn't play games. When he realizes he wants Morgan for a life partner (rather than just a bed partner), he doesn't hide his feelings from Morgan (or from himself) the way some men would have. Also, I could feel genuine caring between the two. I couldn't really understand why Morgan would want a life like that, but I definitely felt their bond.
Book Review: Kinda slow, and more plot than hot... Summary: 3 Stars
Mostly about her stalker situation and not much about the journey exploring D/s.
Odd threesome twist.
Kind of disjointed.
Too kinky to hand off as a sexy intro into D/s B&D but too mild for those who already know they like it.
