Book Reviews of Wicked TiesBook Review: LEFT ME FEELING CONFLICTED!!! Summary: 4 Stars
So, when I heard all the good reviews for Wicked Ties I was excited about getting it from my local library and reading it. I had never ventured into the world of erotica with a focus on BDSM and was a little curious about it. The book didn't disappoint at all because ALL of the sex scenes had this element of BDSM---even the one scene of vanilla sex that the main characters had. I liked the book a lot. It was well developed sexually and I could understand where the main characters were coming from especially Morgan's indecision over her sexual leanings. It is very understandable to feel depraved when your sexual fantasies aren't "normal". But define normal. What is a normal sex practice? Vanilla sex?... Boring after a while. I rather put some chocolate and strawberry sauce, peanuts, cherries, etc on top to mix things up. After all not everybody can be sexually satisfied with "normal sex". Although I praise this book at the same time I have to say that I am conflicted about Wicked Ties because this is my first encounter with BDSM in a erotic novel and I felt a little weird after reading it---conflicted just like Morgan was. I mean I enjoyed the very descriptive and expressive language but I felt kind of weird about the type of sex that they were having in the book. Hell, even the menage that the characters had later on wasn't as conflicting for me as the BDSM. Another thing was the fact that the romance was not as developed as the sex was. The sex was steaming hot but the love factor had me questioning the book. I had a hard time understanding the concept of falling in love over a short period of time(days) with a person. I feel that Morgan and Jack were more in lust than love after the short time period in which the novel occurred. But overall the book was a great read and if you're interested in BDSM in erotic fiction this could be an introductory book for you as it was for me.
Book Review: Not For The Faint of Heart Summary: 4 Stars
I read Decadent first and where people said they liked Wicked Ties much better, I have to say the opposite. It's more because of personal reasoning, because I'm not really turned on by D/s. (Maybe cause I'm also dominant by nature? lol)It's not a bad read by any means, but not one that I would read again.
Book Review: Not wicked enough Summary: 1 Stars
I read all the reviews and then bought the book and now I wonder what do they see in it that I didn't. I found the heroine's struggle irritating - okay, question it in the beginning, but if you know it works for you, either do it or don't but quit whinning.
And now for a SPOILER ALERT:
And I found the hero's early action, fully explained, but still, I found him videoing their first sex scene and then sending the video via email to her putative finance, I found that unforgivable behaviour in a hero. I don't care what backstory there is, when they were going on and on about how BDSM is all about trust, he had broken it in a fundamental way, which made him unattractive to me.
And then there is the small point that the book is actually not well written and the sex scenes not hot. I really didn't get this book. I wouldn't recommend it.
Book Review: Pathetic Summary: 1 Stars
I am an erotica junkie, and this is a sad, sad excuse. For one, the fact that Jack had dreams of a red haired beauty, blah blah blah, was pathetic. And the instant love is disgusting, not real at all. Instant lust, I understand, but this book was just pathetic. There was no build up, no getting to know the characters before they jumped into bed with one another.
Book Review: Satisfaction Guaranteed Summary: 5 Stars
Wickedly fabulous is what I say. Hot steamy romance, hot characters, great plot and a happy ending, everything a book should have.
Her writing style, characters and over all creativity is mind blowing. She grabs you in the very first pages of the book and doesn't let go until you feel spent (in the best possible way of course).
The hero and heroine in this book are perfect for each other. The story is gripping from the get go and continues to be throughout the book.
Shayla Black doesn't disappoint to deliver you a great read. Wicked Ties is a page turner - that can't be put down until you've finished it.
