You think this is going to give you lots of detailed info about the least visited parts of France. You're wrong. There's lots of the minutiae of travelling and activities (mostly detail that goes out of date quickly, or can be better researched somewhere more specialised), plus a few paragraphs of waffly tales and description that could sometimes almost have been written without visiting the place. The text left me wondering, what was the author trying to say? The maps show you less then a road atlas does. There are many quite poor drawings of the flora and fauna. The highlight of the book for me are the high quality colour plates scattered through the book: most of these are superb.
