Book Review: I enjoyed this book from cover to cover

For me, this book propagates the mystique of Tom Waits and it is for this reason that I enjoyed the read so much. The pure genius of the man was portrayed in meticulous detail."Wild Years" provides the reader with a lot of information and anecdotes on the background into Tom Waits' career and music, which have served only to wet my appetite and left me wanting to know more. So if you want to get a further insight into his music this book is for you. There is only limited reference to Tom Waits' personal life and I admire the respect the author shows for his subject in this regard.
However, a limitation of this book is that it feels more like a thesis or dissertation than a story told by an acquaintance or friend. The author has not interviewed the man himself and this detachment can be felt throughout. But despite this, Waits' personality does shine through and it won't be the last time that I read this book.
