Book Review: A good starter ... but only that

This is the definition of a three-star book.
For one particular use, it's excellent. As a first serious book on hold 'em, it's a very good place to start. Jones writes in a style that is easy to understand. He oversimplifies, sometimes, but he introduces a lot of key concepts in a very readable, understandable way.
That being said, if you want the definitive book on low limit hold 'em, buy "Small Stakes Hold 'em," by Miller, Sklansky, and Malmuth instead. There should be no doubt that the latter book is more accurate and thorough. It covers the same material in more depth, and when the two books disagree, Miller et al are correct and Jones is wrong.
But Miller et. al. wrote a book for people who are already comfortable playing poker at a solid level. Jones did not. Jones wrote a book for somebody who wants to play poker and win more than he loses. Make no mistake: Jones will turn you into a break-even or slightly-positive player, and his book deserves praise for being readable and accessible. It is an excellent first book on serious poker, and you will beat your home games and many small-stakes casino games following his advice.
Miller et al wrote a book which will be overwhelming for novices, who will be very comfortable with Jones. So if you want to get good at small-stake hold 'em, read Jones's book. Play a little. Get comfortable. Then go buy Miller et al's book ... and make a bundle.
