Book Review: Pilcher's new book disappoints, despite its eye for detail.

Rosamund Pilcher has never been known for her earth-shattering, edge of the seat excitement, but this time she has exceeded even her own lack of expectation. It is the sort of read for when you want no confrontation at all - to curl up with last thing at night and drop off to sleep - because there is nothing much to keep you awake. She paints her images clearly, down to the very last details - is the colour of the toaster really important to the story line? - but she manages to skim over irritating hitches in her own story plan and you can see what is going to happen next come trip trapping over the hill. Very disappointing.
