Book Reviews of Wish You Well

Book Review: This book should be read by Everyone!
Summary: 5 Stars

Oh my goodness. All I can't say right off is that this book makes you think. It is very real. The descriptions of the scenery in the mountains.. the characters and their lifestyle, the way they portray themselves..right down to the gestures of the characters in this story makes this the most real and thought provoking and lifelike novel that I have had the pleasure to read! I recommend this book for EVERYONE. It allows us all caught up in this fiesty rat raced world to slow down and take a breath or two and to stop and see what really matters in this life. Family, Love and especially the heritage and history of one's self. A beautiful portrayal of love and conviction. The 12 year old girl grows up into a 13/14 year old who is wiser and more learned beyond her years.. why you ask? Because back in 1940's things were different. More had to be done by the individual and so more observation was had. Anyone who criticizes this book doesn't know when to appreciate a good written word.

Book Review: The author should stick to mysteries.
Summary: 1 Stars

This book is about as far as you can get from Baldacci's other works. I found the story very slow moving.

The narrator is a sure cure for insomina. I will never again listen to anything she reads.

The ending of this book is so unrealistic that it defies any possible logic. Yet the way the story was written, this ending was telegraphed about one quarter into the book.

Don't waste your time with this one.

Book Review: Maybe a good children's book--maybe
Summary: 2 Stars

This book was simplistic, unrealistic and predictable. Maybe I kept comparing it to John Grisham's THE PAINTED HOUSE which I read a few weeks ago. Maybe I kept comparing it to any good book. Come on now, happily skipping out to the barn in their flour sack clothes to milk a sick cow! Obviously Baldacci never experienced wearing something out of flour sacks or dealing with a sick cow.

Book Review: Absolutely Wonderful!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

A dear friend gave me this book to read. I was a bit apprehensive because it wasn't my type of read. I decided to read it out of politeness. I was so glad that I did. Will say that it is a top 10 on my list. Being from the mountains of Virginia, I could relate to a lot of the book. I enjoyed it so much that I bought it for myself and bought my boyfriend's grandmother a copy as well. She enjoyed it so much she passed it to her sister who passed it to her daughter who passed it to her daughter. Everyone loved it!

Book Review: Awful Book, Mediocre Narration
Summary: 1 Stars

See the reviews section the actual book Wish You Well for my review of the content.

The narrator of Wish You Well, apparently, has never been to Appalachia. Her Appalachia accent is appalling and inconsistent, and sounds more like its from Louisiana. Occasionally she forgets which character she is doing (at one point, she uses her voice for a 12 year old girl when she is supposed to be doing a grown man).
