Book Review: Wish you Well Summary: 5 StarsAbsolutely wonderful reading. I read the book in almost one sitting; didn't want to put it down. It's a huge difference from David's previous books which I also rate highly. Almost didn't buy it but certainly am glad I did. Recommend it highly.
Book Review: Super read! Summary: 5 StarsMy son had to have it for his high school English class. He enjoyed the story and the price!
Book Review: Thoroughly Enjoyable! Summary: 4 StarsI normally don't read David Baldacci's books. I thought he writes only mystery/suspense novels and I have not been inspired to pick up one of his books, in spite of his popularity. Someone recommended that I pick up this one and to my amazement, it is a well-told story of a young girl and her brother. While it is a leisure read for me, it was also an inspiring one too. I was amazed.
This book focuses on Lou, an eleven-year-old girl, who is a beloved oldest child of her parents. She lives in New York City, daughter of a well-known author, sister to the most adorable little boy. What could go wrong? Plenty, it seems. One day, she was a laughing little girl dreaming of being a serious writer and the next day, she faces a tragedy that defies words. Lou and her little brother Oz was sent to the mountains in Virginia, to her father's grandma to live and to heal. It was a place that is so unlike NYC, that at first, it just made things worse. But the longer Lou lives there, the more she falls in love with the mountains and the way of life there. She soon grew to love her great-grandma and made some new friends. Even when trouble strikes, she learns a real secret that it takes a lifetime for some people to learn.
It is an enjoyable read and very quick too. It is well-written, compelling and will take you away for a little bit into a different world where values are placed on immaterial things, not material. It is a wonderful book to while away a cold winter night.

If so, this is the book! The reader is allowed to experience each character via emotions and personality expressed in excellent narrative and dialog. It is very enlightening on a number of levels: the southern mountain culture, personal relationships and corporate exploitation of natural resources and people.
This excellent book is definitely one to recommend to friends of all ages. They will thank you for it.
