Book Reviews of Wishful Drinking

Book Review: One of the best books I've ever read!
Summary: 5 Stars

It was the title that got me with this book. Fast and clever. The picture was very cute too. This book was so good that I couldn't put it down. Her honesty, warmth and humor along with a fierce intelligence shine brightly in this book. She made me a Carrie Fisher fan in 3 pages or less.

Book Review: Poor dumb Carrie Fisher
Summary: 1 Stars

This book is such a train wreck; I wish I could give it no stars. Carrie Fisher should be embarrassed. It is entirely possible that this is a transcript of a two hour session with her shrink. Why didn't someone try to stop her?! Ms. Fisher apparently wants the world to know that she is vapid, unintelligent, narcissistic, and, well, crazy.

Book Review: Pretty good
Summary: 4 Stars

It's pretty funny. Just wish it was longer. Since it comes from a one-woman show, I guess it can't be. But since it was published as a book, the book feels too slim. But it reads well.

Book Review: Princess Leia Tells All...
Summary: 5 Stars

After four hit novels, one of which became a feature film, and after an iconic time as Princess Leia of Star Wars, Carrie Fisher comes "clean" with a memoir about what it's like to be a product of "Hollywood in-breeding". A term she has coined to describe the Hollywood royalty, Fisher reveals her life from the inside - the scandals, the marriages and remarriages of each of her parents, and her own marriage to Paul Simon.

With a disarming wit and self-deprecatory tone, Fisher shares about her addictions, her bipolar disorder, and her wonderful daughter, who, at fifteen, is amazingly "together", despite the drama of Fisher's own life.

Some of her experiences were described in her novels - "Postcards from the Edge" became a movie with Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine - but her psychiatric diagnoses came later.

Wishful Drinking is a book for anyone who felt less than perfect, but survived anyway.

Book Review: Quick funny read.
Summary: 5 Stars

I laughed outloud (or aloud?) a lot when reading this. She gives readers a view into her crazy ina way that makes you feel like she ahs the same crazy we all have, well she might have a tad more, but you love her for it! Shorter book-quick read.
