Book Review: A "Most-Have" For Any Kid's (Big or Small) Library

Attractive features:
The dark cover has embossed letters and foiled decorations with embedded faux gems. There are also fold-out pages and attached envelopes with hidden messages or artifacts (i.e. Magical Phoenix Feather; Divination Cards).
You'll also find interactive pages that have pictures or crystal ball images that change with participation by the reader.
If that's not enough you'll find small booklets, or guides, attached to the main pages (one is called "Spells: How to cast them", more titles are: Animal Magic - A Guide To Working with Familiars"; "The Wizard's Apothecary - Magic Ingredients"; "The Story of Cerridwen"; "A Spellcasting Table"; and "The Story of Merlin").
The inside of the back cover has a simulated jewel that extends out of the plane of the page.
The border of the pages is decorated with a simulated engraving showing waves similar to those found in Japanese engravings (along the bottom) and Atlas-type figures supporting gigantic sand timers with smoldering pots (along either side) and "visaged-crescent" moons sandwiching planets, stars and a stylized sun (along the top).
Drawbacks:
The cover should have real embedded metal letters authentic gems and polished stones; silver symbol ring and actual gold leafed designs. Furthermore, the insides should have real wax stamps, bona fide engravings, actual photos, actual postcards, authentic hand-drawings and detachable notes instead of photos of such.

But then, if it had all of these fineries, it wouldn't be a mass market book but a collector's edition and instead of paying less than $25 you'd have to shell out at least 100 times that amount.
So if you are waiting for the collector's edition don't hold your breath but if you do get a copy for a young reader spend the time to remove the sticker (containing ads for the other books in the series along with the ISBN number and stocking code) to create the illusion that it is a rare find.
Overall this book is the type that can enchant and mesmerize lovers of "all things fantastic"...
Not only that, but it's a treat to the eyes, hands and piques the curiosity.
