Book Reviews of Women: A NovelBook Review: Bukowski at his best Summary: 5 Stars
Great read. If you like Bukowski then you don't want to skip this book.
Book Review: Bukowski is a mastermind Summary: 5 Stars
Love all of this other books, this is icing on the cake. Definitely worth the read. Henry Chinaski is total American scum and I love it.
Book Review: Don't leave this book around for children to read- vulgar but well written Summary: 5 Stars
I found this book to be very funny and well written. Some people might consider it a "dirty book." I can see how this book could offend. Mostly this book is about sex, drugs and alcohol. There is some mention of horse racing too.
Book Review: Entertaining Read Summary: 4 Stars
A friend of mine introduced me to Bukowski's literature. I find his crude style of writing to be very entertaining. This book is not for the politically correct or feminist. Bukowski has a way of keeping the reader interested, I couldn't put the book down! A fun, easy read but it's probably not for everyone.
Book Review: Flip Side of Reality Summary: 4 Stars
If you read this novel, you really must also read Howard Sounes excellent bio, "Charles Bukowski: Locked in the Arms of a Crazy Life." Bukowski gained renown for being brutally honest, but in fact, he lied a lot to make himself look better. Okay, we all do that, yet it's disappointing in a writer who built his rep on telling the truth, no matter what. His best narrative writing is actually to be found in his poetry, not his novels or short stories. The man was too wasted most of the time to sustain narratives well beyond a few lines (except for "Post Office," his first and best novel.
