Book Review: A Captivating story!
Summary: 3 Stars
Ever since I read Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely , I realized that I still love faeries as much as I loved them as a kid. Needless to say, I had HUGE expectations from this book.
I did like this book, but in my opinion, it doesn't come close to Melissa Marr's writing.Somewhere in the middle, I just got bored and it took me a long time to get back to it. Wondrous Strange is definitely a well-written book and despite it falling short of my expectations, its still quite readable.
The author has created an enchanting magical world that will captivate you. You can almost believe in that world and wish you were there.
There are several things about this book which I especially liked. Fist of all, there were scenes and dialogues which were genuinely funny..not just what you called "wannabe" funny.Often, I find myself cringing at some of the dialogues which authors seem to find funny. But Lesley Livingston has written some wonderful scenes which amuse you and draw you further into the world.
I love how the author has combined the world of theatre with the world of faeries and myths..it adds to the magical quality of the book.
I loved the characters. Kelley was an awesome heroine with a great sense of humour. She didn't whine or behave like a damsel in distress. Sonny , though not my favorite sort of hero, was very likeable still.
However the romance didn't really get to me.
What makes Wondrous Strange compelling is the mixture of magic, romance, action, myth, theatre and SHAKESPEARE!!
The only reason I gave this book 3 stars and not more , is that as I said, it got slightly boring midway.Even though its a very short book, it just seemed to stretch.Having said that , I still believe that this book was a worthwhile one and must be read atleast once by all fantasy fans.

As I said, there are some really funny moments.
