Book Reviews of Wuthering Heights (Bantam Classics)Book Review: It is a very intelligent novel Summary: 4 Starsi actually enjoyed this novel despite what my fellow students thought or said about it. I went into expecting to hate it but I don't. It is creative, intelligent and in a bizarre way romantic. Heathcliff is a powerful character as are both Catherine's. Unfortunatly for me I do have to write an essay on it. Under most circumstances I wouldn't care but I have to write about the storms in the novel and what they mean. According to my teacher there are 43 but I have not found that many. This makes me detest the book. Which bites because it is a magnificent piece of literature and it is terrible that Emily was not around to know of it's success or that it could have been a success when she was still alive.
Book Review: I really tried. Summary: 2 StarsIt took a real effort to finish Wuthering Heights. I am generally a fan of classic fiction, and decided voluntarily to approach this book out of curiosity. However, my efforts were pretty much unrewarded. On the whole, the characters in Wuthering Heights were unbelievably selfish, and failed to behave rationally, capriciously shifting affections from chapter to chapter. The only major exception to this is the brooding Heathcliff, who is probably classic literature's most two-dimensional villain, motivated by Catherine's decision to spurn him, he proceeds to spew vitriol indiscriminantly at all he encounters. Only two of the book's major characters survive to the end, and, with nauseating inevitability, the book ends with their engagement. All of the other characters meet terrible ends, and it is difficult to have any sympathy for them, since their behaviour had been so consistently egotistic. Certainly, if you approach Wuthering Heights, with the expectation of reading a classic work of British literature, you will find that. However, if you are expecting a good story too, you will be disappointed. Wuthering Heights is not the classic romance novel that you might be anticipating.
Book Review: Stop Whining! Summary: 3 StarsJust when the book starts getting interesting, someone starts whining and complaining about their illnesses! I was very annoyed in those parts. It took me a painstaking 3 months to finish the book. Although after I finished it, I still thought about the story's point. The underlying theme to the story is powerful and that makes the book good. Yet, the road is very slow and sometimes difficult. Some of the characters are very annoying!
Book Review: A Moving Story of Hate and Love Summary: 3 StarsAs I read the book "Wuthering Heights" it was easy for me to see why it was named a classic. It is very well written, the plot is interesting and all it wants is a story book ending. Throughout the book the reader finds that the misery of the characters is because of the selfishness and hatred that some of the characters have for one another. One sees that the hatred of one man for a small orphan child carries into the second and third generation of his children and grandchildren. Although Emily Bronte masterpiece can never top her sisters book,"Jane Eyre", it is worth reading, and contamplating its message.
Book Review: Life is a mystery Summary: 3 StarsThis shows how life turns around for good or bad.
