Book Review: Endangered Excitement

The book Endangered Species follows the Beast's quest to save mutantkind from extinction. This is a very interesting premise itself that takes the Beast to all kinds of heroes and villains, but moves very slow. This is because something that could have been 10 chapters was stretched out to eighteen chapters (with the prologue).
Beast's characterization is fitting, but we don't really see any development besides: This sucks, no way to save mutants. That is all Beast does in this entire story. Other characters inside the book however have very good development. We see what Dr. Kavita Rao has done since Astonishing X-Men Vol. 1: Gifted, also more into what the Scarlet Witches mind has become, and the beginning of the new characterization that Mike Carey gave Professor X in the very good storyline X-Men Legacy Vol. 1: Divided He Stands (v. 1), so even though the Beast was a let down, those other characters were very cool.
The art was good but all looked the same, when there was about five different artists. Five different artists with different styles and the book still looked the same throughout. I want variety in crossovers, not the same exact thing and that's what I got here.
So overall this storyline was a bit of a let down and the only reason why I'm giving it three stars is the characterization of some characters.
