Summary: 5 Stars

Ygads, YGOR

What is this?

What's going on?

Here we have Lee Murphy, one of the leaders in the genre of cryptozoological fiction pioneering a new genre. While I'm not quite sure how to label this genre, I can say with confidence that readers will find this book to be engrossing, and entertaining.

From the first moment you are enthralled and find yourself living the story.

As you finish each page you can't wait for the next.

You find yourself saying "no matter how many pages there are in this book, there can't possibly be enough."

And this, of course, is the genius of Lee Murphy.

He has taken a story somewhat similar to Frankenstein and turned it into entertainment of the highest level.

Who would have thought that the story of YGOR could rival those old classics? Yet here we see Mr. Murphy leaving them all in the dust.

The book follows the life and adventures of a deformed human who believes himself to also be part animal in the middle ages. He grows to maturity, though many want to destroy him, and lives in a small village until he receives a call to work for a deranged and utterly brilliant scientist.

At that point his life is changed.

He survives in the wilderness on his own as he makes his way to the doctor's castle. When he arrives prior to the doctor he single-handedly begins renovation of the structure. With his immense strength he is able to perform the work of many ordinary men.

When the doctor arrives YGOR becomes a captive participant in a series of unrivaled scientific experiments. Along the way he learns to fight for those he comes to care about and begins to understand the workings of his own mind and the world.

If you like excitement, you will find it here. If you enjoy history, will find it here. If you enjoy battles, you will find them here. And if you enjoy science you will also find it here. And most of all, if you enjoy a riveting story, you will most certainly find it here.

What makes this combination perhaps the most unique is that Murphy tells it from the point of view of YGOR. The reader enters the world and the mind of this character and ends up with much more than he or she might have bargained for.

Yes, the reader is entertained. Yes, the story is all but impossible to put down. And yes, in addition to this, we find an intimate and sensitive description of the painful and difficult way one with disabilities such as YGOR must navigate in the world.

This is not just a fine historical, adventure, scientific novel. This is a book that can serve as part of the curriculum in sociology classes, psychology studies, and for those dealing with people with physical or mental challenges.

So if you want to read a great and entertaining novel, be sure to take advantage of the fare offered up by Lee Murphy in YGOR.

And, if you want to read such a book and also become more aware of some of the issues of life, read this one too.

In short, I can think of no one who might not find the time engrossed in this work time well spent.

Thank you Lee Murphy.
