Book Reviews of You Are My I Love YouBook Review: Amazing Book~Sweet Sentiment w/o Being Sappy! Summary: 5 StarsI absolutly love this book. I bought it when my daughter was 2 1/2 and a year later she is quoting it like crazy, and I need to buy a new copy because hers is falling apart from the constant use. The structure is set up beautifully, flowing very well from start to finish (so rare in children's books) and the sentiment behind the text is beautiful, depending on your own personal interpretation, it can have a VERY deep meaning. Our favorite lines are- "I am your water wings and You are my deep" and of course the "You are my I love you". Buy it- trust me. As the parent of a toddler, it's so nice to read something that can be construed as real work, very poetic!
Book Review: good for the parents, but not for the kids Summary: 4 StarsI think this book is actually very cute. But it is more interesting for the parents. The illustration are not bright enough to get kid's attention and content doesn't really make sense for at least a toddler. When moms read this book-they can get very emotional (including a dad). I still wouldn't call this a kids' book.
Book Review: One of the best bedtime books for parents and kids Summary: 5 StarsI almost passed on this book because of a bad review by a book reviewer, which would have been a huge mistake. (The reviewer, among other things, criticized the use of the word "wild" on the first page but didn't seem to understand that it was wild as noun, as in a magical and unspoiled place, as in the wilds of the Arctic Tundra -- not wild as adjective, as in wild kid, which he clearly assumed. He also clearly didn't have kids, because I don't see how any parent could be untouched by this book.)
The illustrations are pure magic, the writing lovely and clever. This has been a bedtime favorite from toddlerhood through kindergarten, and it hasn't gone out of favor yet. When I want to read an "I love you" book to my kid, among all the wonderful books out there, this is my favorite. I can't remember why I bought this book anyway, probably because of the great parent reviews -- I'm really glad I did.
Book Review: Captures being a mama....... Summary: 5 StarsThis is such a sweet book. The words are lovely and succicently sum up what being a mommy is all about. Plus, the illustrations are soft and gentle and support the text beautifully.
Book Review: The Perfect Expression of the Loving Relationship Between Parent & Child Summary: 5 StarsI received this book as a gift and fell in love with it on the first read. At the time, my son was about 18 months old and this book provides a simple, yet poignant perspective of the daily interaction between parent and child. The book offers poetic symbolism to which parents everywhere can relate. "I am your way home you are my new path. I am your dry towel, you are my wet bath. I am your favorite book, you are my new lines. I am your night light you are my star shine." Not only do I love the book, but my son frequently requests it at bed time (and has even learned to say "I luv you"). It seems that he is just as touched by the story's soft images and lovely expression of our relationship as I am. You won't be dissappointed by the book!
