Book Reviews of You: On A Diet: The Owner's Manual for Waist ManagementBook Review: Amazing. Read it now! The last and best book on nutrition and managing your diet Summary: 5 StarsI bought this book from Costco and then the audio CD from Amazon.com so i could listen in the car too. It is no exageration to say that I can not imagine a better book on nutrition and dieting. The author breaks everything down. I learned so much. Be prepared for a seriously written book. It is so full of information that it can seem like a challenge to get past one page sometimes, but the things i learned blew my mind. For example, I am a sugar-aholic. The authors explained how sugar is addictive on a CELLULAR level. Plus, i was surprised to learn that sugar is not only bad for you in just one way, it unleashes a bunch of chain reactions in your body that spin you on a downward spiral that damages your body and makes you more addicted and fatter at the same time.
If you want to understand what happens after you put food in your mouth, or why you always want the twinky and not the spinach (or vice versa), you will greatly appreciate the fountain of knowledge that is this book.
Best thing i ever got from Costco. They have Audio CD too (I have a super long commute), but it is hard to follow if your not totally concentrating on the authors. But the authors narrate themselves, so that was cool.
Book Review: Great Transaction Summary: 4 StarsThe shipping for the product was great, received it before the expected date. As for the book it starts off a bit slow but it does have a lot of helpful information. I would recommend for anyone trying to change there eating habits not just looking for a quick fix.
Book Review: Outstanding customer service Summary: 5 StarsI ordered the You on a Diet book and for some reason the us postal service delivered the book, but it never arrived to my suite. So I emailed customer service and they immediately sent out a new book free of charge with 2 day UPS delivery. Great service and the book arrived with no problems. I will definitely continue to use Amazon. Thanks.
The book is great for explaining how your body interacts with food and it breaks down the body system in an easy way to understand. Very good read.
Book Review: One of the Work Diet Books I've read Summary: 1 StarsThis is one of the worst diet books I've read (and I've read many of them). I doubt that these doctors have ever been on a diet so have no clue what it is like to be on one. Telling someone to eat the same food everyday for one or two meals is a recipe for a fatter person. Someone may be able to do it for a week or two but when that person breaks it, it's going to mean going on a feeding frenzy. They point out that dogs and cats eat the same food day in and and day out but people are not animals. People control the food that comes into their lifes. Animals have no choice but to eat what they are given.
The exercise section is another disaster. The doctors tell you "It's ONLY 30 minutes a day of walking" then in the next Chapter, add another 5 minutes of stretching OH and don't forget the one hour of regular exercise three times a week. Most people work and have families. If someone was able to do all the recommended exercise, that person wouldn't have time to eat with their kids, play with them and help with their homework. There would be no time to cook dinner or even kiss their love ones Good Night!
And even on the walking only days, 35 minutes (30 minutes of walking plus 5 minues of stretching) will always become an hour. Add the time of changing into exercise clothes, a shower (if you need one afterwards), and whatever else you have to do to get ready. They make it sound so reasonable but unless you are single, it's NOT.
DON'T WASTE your money on this book and the STUPID ideas of idiot DOCTORS! While the first two chapters were interesting only because they contained medical information and that is what a doctor knows and understands. This information is not enough to warrant spending your hard earned dollars.
If there had been zeros stars, that is the rating I would have given this awful book.
Book Review: This book took to long to make a point Summary: 3 Stars
This book gives good information with far too many words. They could cut this book in half and I would recommend it. The authors mix facts in with silly analogies that are not humorous. I found it distracting from the actual topic. It made me wonder if they ever really worked with overweight women. The jokes they made were insensitive and assumed that people have little self control. If you like goofy one liners, you will love this book. I like the facts, some case studies and a few stories. The data was very good. I would suggest buying it used. Now when they create a road map of the book with the data and facts, it will be a good resource to those of us who help people lose weight.
