Book Reviews of You: On A Diet: The Owner's Manual for Waist ManagementBook Review: Awesome! Summary: 4 StarsThis book changed my life. I've lost 15 lbs. in 6 weeks and I feel great!
Book Review: Childish pictures and kindergarten prose is a WASTE of this "male's" time! Summary: 2 StarsThis volume is frustrating !!! I've seen the author, Michael F. Roizen, on PBS and he has said over & over that "the pictures are for the men".
I DON'T BELIEVE HIM. I DON'T BELIEVE THESE CHILDISH CARTOONS AND KINDERGARTEN PROSE WAS INTENDED FOR THE MALE AUDIENCE. [I think his explanation is an after thought, intentionally designed to hide the truth.]
The author, at best, seems to be using a liberal helping of euphemisms ,,, although I have no idea who they are afraid of offending or not getting through to ,,, other then females !!!
I believe, in retrospect, the author [publisher] reflected upon their intention of such infantile euphemisms, which were originally for women and switched, because of the offending response they received from some women who probably felt they were being fed "dumbed-down" information as exemplified by the infantile pictures and prose ,,, the author [publisher] in response to the female criticism ,,, manufactured a "new" intent ,,, now the infantile pictures and childish verbosity is for the "male" audience !!!
There is no way I will ever believe these childish cartoons and baby-talk prose was intended for the male audience !!! NO WAY !!! -- Such nonsense completely turns me off and has relegated this volume to the garbage can !!!
Also negative in this volume are the often used "highly technical terms" which ARE NOT FULLY SUPPORTED with meaningful and mature "definition" but instead [again] are defined with baby-talk and cartoons, cartoons in which I find absolutely NO help or meaning. They're more like children scribbling.
On the positive side ,,, if you manage to sift through the verbose childishness, dumb-down prose and useless cartoons ,,, you can find some very worthy information, albeit very hard to locate in this toy box of nonsense.
Sincerely,
Matthew

Book Review: Chapter 6 - The Sex Factor - Progestin? Are you kidding? Summary: 2 Stars The Sex Factor: The last sentence on page 134 reads, "Now, estrogen works great when it gets paired up with, or balanced by, another ovarian messenger called progestin, which gets released from the egg sac (called corpus luteum) after the follicle ships out its egg."
Give me a break! My female body has never produced a drop of progestin in my entire life! Don't Doctors Roizen and Oz know the difference between progestin and progesterone? Does anybody who helped edit this book know the difference?
I'm disappointed to have found this mistake, and I'm wondering how many other mistakes there are, and how seriously I should take this book?
From a woman who knows the difference between progestin and progesterone.
