Book Reviews of Your Over-35 Week-by-Week Pregnancy Guide: All the Answers to All Your Questions About Pregnancy, Birth, and Your Developing Baby

Book Review: Why didn't I get this before??!!
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this book 3-months after my first child was stillborn when I was 37. Convinced that I needed to be more informed for the next time I was pregnant, I wanted a book that would address ME and MY special circumstances. Boy .. did I luck out. Dr. Shanahan has dealt with over-35's pregnancies and had one herself - she KNOWS of which she speaks. Now I feel absolutely READY to face another pregnancy. I especially LOVE the regular snapshots showing REAL people as well as excerpts from Dr. Shanahan's journal (she leaves us space to jot our own quick notes). And the question and answer part asks the questions that are buzzing through my head and are answered simply and honestly.

In short - GREAT book! Buy it for yourself or someone close to you. You WON'T regret it!

Book Review: Not 35, not pregnant, but still a helpful book
Summary: 5 Stars

My friend is 35 and pregnant, and I started reading this book while I was housesitting since I'm trying to get pregnant myself. I read the chapters about what to do before getting pregnant and looked at all the pictures of what the baby is doing at different stages. It is so interesting. I'll definitley read this more closely when I do get pregnant, even though I'm only 29.

Book Review: lucky sister
Summary: 5 Stars

My sister is a patient of Dr Shanahan and sent me her book even though I'm only 25. I think it is great! It is so full of information, and I like reading about what my baby is doing each week. a few of the chapters are geared to older women, but most of the book applies to anyone. I like the question and answer sections, and the ultrasound pictures are really cool. If I didn't live so far away in Tennessee I'd like to have Dr Shanahan as my doctor.

Book Review: you learn something new every day
Summary: 4 Stars

after 4 kids, I should know it all, but I've never been almost 40 before, so I bought this book. it answered my questions about the diabetes I have this time. I wish I had had the book when I was having the amnio, because my doctor really didn't answer my questions very well, and I didn't know about the option of earlier testing. I didn't get to finish reading it because my little sister "borrowed" it as soon as she found out she was pregnant.

Book Review: 20-20 Hindsight
Summary: 4 Stars

While I have not finished reading Dr. Shanahan's book in its entirety, I was most impressed with her ability to express herself with sincerety and humor. The items from her journal made the book so much more personal. I have loaned my copy to some of my co-workers and they too felt the same way about her "personalization." One of them read the dedication page and the tears rolled down her face. I hope to obtain further copies for friends I think would benefit from this book.

Thank you, Dr. Shanahan.
