Book Reviews of Your Pregnancy Week by Week (Your Pregnancy Series)Book Review: This book shows that Dr. Curtis truly listens to patients! Summary: 5 StarsBefore I read this book, I read Your Pregnancy Over 30, also by Dr. Curtis. When I became pregnant, I found that we lived 5 minutes away from Dr. Curtis' practice. I called his office and was immediately offered the choice of a consultation or an actual appointment, impressive right off the bat. I have since gotten to know Dr. Curtis, his staff, and his attitude and it's my opinion that he calls things exactly as he sees them and if he doesn't know the answer, he doesn't pretend he does by spouting "standard OB comments". He is very open-minded to the individual needs of his patients as well. I have read Your Pregnancy Week by Week and it truly covers the majority of questions in my mind as a first time mother to be. My only suggestion would be not to read only by week -- Dr. Curtis discusses routine "complications" such as colds and flu, dental emergencies, emotional highs and lows, and safe/unsafe medication. Since the format is weekly, you may have a dental emergency in Week 8 and not read about it until Week 13. Virtually any other topic not included in this book he covers in his book Pregnancy Questions and Answers, which again is very informative. This is a physician who has obviously written this book himself and he hasn't paid someone to do it and slap his name on it like so many other physicians have done. That is very reassuring to his patients! He welcomes comments addressed to him and is always eager for suggestions on what else to include in future publications and editions of the same. I have found no evidence ever of an ego in this gentleman. I have read What to Expect When You're Expecting and Dr. Curtis' book is superior in my opinion.
Book Review: Book focuses on the negative. Summary: 2 StarsAlthough I enjoyed the description of the growing baby, the bulk of the book is spent describing things that can go wrong. Many of the problems highlighted occur in such a small percentage of pregnancies/births that I think the book only encourages paranoia.
Book Review: Get this instead of "What to Expect..." Summary: 5 StarsMy wife wouldn't go a day without this book. It puts things in context, instead of scaring a pregnant woman with everything that can (and supposedly will) go wrong. She likes the illustrations the best. Get this book for a friend because most hospitals don't give it away.
Book Review: Quick & Easy to read with so much information! Summary: 5 StarsIt is a wonderful book that is quick and easy to read but gives so much information. It's nice to have a book that gives you information on a weekly basis instead of a monthly basis.
Book Review: I have read the book What to expect when expecting and what Summary: 3 Starsmy girl friend is 3 months and she thinks the baby is moving witch she should not feel at this stage and she also tells me that at the age of 19 she was going through a change of life,And by reading this book she puts it in her head every little thing she reads out of this book she feels sick every minute of the day. So in my mind i think the book Ian,t that great signing off JAY .B
