Book Reviews of ZelBook Review: Ingredients: This book, a comfy chair, and a storm Summary: 5 Stars
This book created a mood like no other book I have ever read. Beautifully told, it gives you the physiological story of Rapunzel, the witch, and of course, Prince Charming who happened to be named Konrad. Zel is a wonderful character capable of charming the reader's imagination in 5 seconds flat. The mother is the villian, an interesting twist of fate. She, like all bad guys, keeps the pages turning. However, the lust and love between Konrad and Zel is what incaptivated me the most. The book is a straightforward read. I loved it and give it a thumbs up. HOWEVER, there is some objectionable material, though not graphic, that should be taken into considertion before losing yourself in the pages of this enchanting book.
Book Review: It's hard to put this one down! Summary: 5 Stars
This book adds a new twist on the fairy tale Rapunzel. I read it cover to cover and couldn't put it down! I liked how the motivation for each character was explained. The story was told from three different viewpoints, but I was mostly captivated by the beauty of the love story within it. I would recommend this book to anyone.
Book Review: Let down your hair-and your assumptions Summary: 5 Stars
I first read this book when I was ten. I got it from the library and I loved it. So when I had some extra money last month, I bought my own copy. Now that I'm 18 it's even better.
This is the story of a mother, who loves her daughter and has a gift with plants. Zel loves mother back, and animals, and one day before her 13th birthday she meets a boy and horse, and the boy loves her too, though he doesn't understand it.
But the mother can't stand to loose her daughter, and the mother has a choice that the daughter must make, so she tells her there is an enemy and locks her up in a tower. Sound familiar? It's Rapunzel. Told backwards and upside-down and with no one who is evil, just misunderstood, only as this author can do it. Recommended for everyone.
Five stars.
Book Review: Lovely! Summary: 5 Stars
Donna jo Napoli is a very talented author, her expressions, details, and layout are so perfectly done in this book.
Some people don't like that "zel" is written in present tense, but from that viewpoint you grasp a lot more than you would otherwise, and besides, after the first page or so you are so emmersed in the story you dont even notice!
The characters are all very realistic and vibrant, the story is perfect in every way, and the writing is superb!
I cant recommend this book enough!
I would recommend this book for ages fourteen and up, mainly because younger children would not understand the deep ideas and feelings portrayed, they would probably either be bored to death or just think it was a weird book. I was so frustrated with all of the reviews that talked about this book being nonsensical ect. Maybe if the reader was a little older they would understand more easily.
Also there is a lot of talk about the devil (mother is obviously a witch, although shes not grusome or anything). By the middle of the story several charecters suffer from slight insanity, Their are a few very passionate moments between two lovers, but it's written very sensitively.
Zel is a very passion filled book, and Mrs. Napoli gives a great depth to all the feelings, making the reader not only feel them, but also understand them like never before.
A truly beautiful book! I think teen girls will enjoy it the most. If you want a gorgeous read, that introduces you to whole new levels of feeling, thinking, understanding, and plethoras of enjoyment, and will thrill you to the core with romance, hate, love, and overall beautiful writing, this is definatly the book for you.

Zel is my all-time favorite book. I couldn't put it down. It had wonderful, life-like characters. It was like I was in the book. I would tell you about this book, but it was too good to put in words.
