Book Reviews of Zen Guitar

Book Review: Pick up your guitar. Tune. Play.
Summary: 5 Stars

As a previous reviewer mentioned, don't expect technical details on how to play from Zen Guitar. Instead, use this book to help you get into the right mindset. Develop the right attitude towards your instrument and towards playing, and that is half the battle. I played guitar for about a year, then let it collect dust as life became more hectic. When I received this book as a gift, I also let it collect dust. When I finally read the book, it reignited my interest in the guitar, and has provided me with the spirit to continue, and also to set appropriate expectations for myself. I don't need to be as good as anyone else, as long as what I am playing makes me happy. Three things to remember: Pick up your guitar. Tune. Play. That is all there is to it!

Book Review: Relaxing.
Summary: 4 Stars

Neat little book. Combines meditation with guitar. Great for acoustic and classical guitars, but I doubt it would help a metal head. Calms you down, chills you out, helps you see how beautiful the guitar's resonance is. Very deep and thought provoking. Great job!

Book Review: Required Reading
Summary: 5 Stars

I regularly give this book as a gift to my best students. It is, by far, one of the finest guitar methods ever written.

Book Review: SPECTACULAR GIFT FROM A PROFOUND THINKER!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the best books I've ever read. I own thousands of books on virtually all subjects, and I rank Zen Guitar certainly among the top five in my library.

The book is packed with profound wisdom which applies to all aspects of life, not just guitar. I won't be surprised if I read this book over and over again for the rest of my life.

The book is also very clearly, economically, and artfully written in short, easily digested, sections.

Sudo was, without a doubt, a very deep thinker and it's a real tragedy that he passed away. I'm sure he could have given so much more to the world, but at least he left us the gift of this book.

Book Review: Superb book for all creative beings, especially guitarists !
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a truly inspiring superb book for guitarists who desire to connect with their own inner creative selves as well as with the music and, with their audiences. The references and quotes from guitarists and creators we 'know' are extraordinarily insightful and motivational, and even surprising at times, and are so well used by the author for helping direct us through contemplation and exploration. This book would be ideal for 'dipping-into' daily or weekly for meditation and inner suggestion-starting material! I am a Vocal Therapist, Voice Teacher, Singer, and Alternative Healing Consultant, and I have found this book supremely interesting and was deeply affected by experiencing it for myself, as well as for my work with other singers and creative personalities. This is a powerfully effective book to share with yourself.
